On Saturday a 16 year girl came home from 7 months at sea with only herself, a few birds, fish, dolphins and whales for company. She travelled the world in a tiny boat and in so doing she became the youngest person to circumnavigate the world. Her record is not recognized because the World Sailing Bodies insist that you must be 18 to have a record. Their ruling came about to prevent very young people from seeking to achieve this record. They were concerned for their safety.
So Jessica’s record may not be in the record books but as she said ‘well if I wasn’t out their sailing around the world for the last 7 months I am not sure what I was doing’!
Jessica’s journey began when she read the book ‘Lionheart’, the story of Jesse Martin’s epic around the world solo voyage in 1999. Jesse, another Australian, does hold the record for the youngest person to single handedly sailing around the world without help or stopover. He turned 18 during his trip.
Jessica ‘s dream commenced and her passion with sailing; and over the years her parents backed her up; she learned about sailing, she got the boat and she got sponsorship. These people all believed in her dream and gave her confidence.
But she had her detractors; last year a month before leaving she sailed from Brisbane to Sydney down the East Coast of Australia and had a run in with a Chinese Tanker! The naysayers came out; said she was too young, too inexperienced; her parents were stupid and irresponsible for encouraging her. But as Jessica said: these people didn’t know her; they didn’t know her parents and they were badly misinformed.
And she wasn’t kidding; she left last year with a few boats sending her on her way; out through Sydney Heads. In the Northern Hemisphere she followed her North Star; it was her compass; in the Southern Hemisphere she used the Southern Cross. She came back last Saturday to be greeted by thousands of people including the Prime Minister of Australia and the Premier of New south Wales and hundreds of boats .
She said that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
It is so true and what I have learned from the Beyond Freedom Evolution course is if you follow your Northstar, your passion with tenacity and ignore the naysayers; those people who are so misinformed then you too will reach your goals and achieve your dreams Polaris has made me realize that it is possible to follow your passions and live life on your terms; just as Jessica is. It may be uncomfortable but in the end it is worth it.!

Yesterday I read an article about a guy called Ronald Wayne who decided to pull out of his friends’ new computer compnay in 1976 after 2 weeks because he was afraid he could be saddled with debts if it failed. The computer company? You guessed it – Apple! So Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak gave him back his $1500 and he left. Now he is a pensioner and deals in old coins and stamps to supplement his income! The 2 Steves, on the other hand, as we know, are billionaires; Ronald is a pensioner who, in getting back his $1500, missed out on $23 billion (that’s what they reckon his share would now be worth!!). He left because they got an order for 100 computers which meant borrowing $15,000 and he had failed once in business and he was afraid of failing again! He claimed he was too old (at 39) to take the risk!
Look what fear resulted in for this man. Now money is not everything but it sure makes life easier because it gives you more choices!!
Living a Fearless Life is an important theme. It is not about jumping out of planes or risking your being, but it is about risking your life; making the brave decisions that can lead to greater happiness or greater choices in life. If Edison had given up we wouldn’t have electricity or the car radio or the dictaphone or the many other inventions he patented. That man was an entrepreneur who was not afraid to take a monetary risk. Those that are afraid; well in years from now you too will be thinking ‘how come I did not make it’, maybe living on a pension and thinking about what might have been. Many millionaires are bankrupted – lose everything and then go back to being millionaires because they are willing to take a risk: to burn the boats! So whether you decide on a home based business or a bricks and mortar business:you need to take a risk; you will need to spend money to get going. Reinvent your future. Life is short: I keep saying this. So take some risks and don’t be the next Ronald Wayne! Instead be one of the 2 Steves!!

How long have you dreamt of being, doing and having what you really wanted? Well then you need to think big, because when it comes to your goals, the size of your ambition does matter.
Success is intentional; it involves choice, decision and action. Unless you choose – with certainty – what it is you want, you will get very little. And then you must expect success as well!

Individuals obviously achieve different results because they select and pursue different goals. But if you think small then you will not achieve the results that your neighbor with bigger goals seeks.
Each decision affects what you become. We form our decisions and then our decisions form us. But never forget: the nature and direction of your life will change the instant you decide what goals you want to pursue. Is that not exciting?
Your conversation with success is ultimately a solo one. Your job is you and only you. Decisions and goals made must be your own if you are to call your life a success.
So always establish the best goals you can. What we sow is what we reap; sow quality goals and see what you reap!
Do not be indecisive; it is the killer of opportunity and potential. Successful people make decision quickly and rarely change their mind; unsuccessful people make decisions slowly and often change their mind. There are risks and costs with every decision you make; but, the price of decision is far less than the risks and costs of inaction. Fear is fleeting, but regret is forever.
Everyone has an official wish list. But what about the outrageous unofficial wish list? The one that common sense tells you to ignore? The list that exists deep in your mind, the list that keeps you up at night, that makes your toes wiggle when you think of it? Well choose that list write down those outrageous goals; decide and go for it.

Polaris Global and being an entrepreneur
Last night I went to the launch of a conference for entrepreneurs and creative thinkers that is happening soon. On arriving in the hall there were various quotes on the screen; quotes from the naysayers in life; you know the kind; some guy in the early 1900′s how said there was no commercial use for radios(!) or the guy who said there was no commercial use for PC’s!
The first thing that the MC asked us to do was to look around our lives and think about all the things we have in our lives that weren’t there 30, 20 even 10 years ago and how all these new things had come about because of entrepreneurs, creative thinkers; peopke who were not prepared to accept what was and were prepared to ask ‘why not’. Now that particular thought and exercise I had done already thanks to the Beyond Freedom Evolution course that has wrought such huge changes in my thinking. It has given me a clearer thought process on my future and what I want from it; it has helped me understand that successful people will not listen to the negative comments around them and will push on regardless; they have commitment and a burning desire in the face of anything that may get in their way; they may fall but will get up and continue towards their goal; Persistence, patience and preparation will lead them to their version of prosperity what ever that might be. We must persist if we want our own success and not be a wage slave all our lives.

When I first joined Polaris I had not set goals in years. I just drifted along, telling myself that I would get ‘there’ soon enough. But Polaris taught me that ‘there’ didn’t really exist until I decided what it was what I wanted! I realized fairly quickly that although I had done qutie well in my life I had this nagging doubt that I had not reached my true potential. But then what was my potential?
What did I want? As part of my Beyond Freedom Evolution course I received goal cards; but how to fill them in? During training by some of the leaders at Polaris Global I was taught to set ‘SMART’ goals and spent a whole weekend just clearing my thoughts so that I could decide on my short term, medium term and long terms goals. Once I had done this I wrote them down and then got into action. I mean goals don’t just get achieved by you thinking about them; you must action them: do something. I had set goals that I thought were fairly out there; but I got into action and had a burning desire to achieve them. I looked at my written down goals daily and then I started to achieve some of them! I was excited as I had had no idea how I was going to achieve them! But I had been trained – I didn’t worry about the ‘how’; just get into action and the ‘how’ will take care of itself. And it has!
Now some of my goals will take longer to achieve but I have no doubt that I will achieve them; I am excited and in action on a daily basis as I never was before. I am an entrepreneur and goal setting is part if my DMO!
Then I read about a goal setting exercise written by Gail Matthews, Ph.D., Dominican University which confirmed what I had been taught; those that wrote down their goals enhanced their chance of goal achievement.
Ralph Waldo Emerson said ‘If you fail to plan; you plan to fail’. Thought provoking and really how I lived my life till Polaris came along.
Be an entrepreneur and write down your goals. See the changes in your life
What do we want from our lives? Bob Proctor says many of us ‘tiptoe carefully through life to death’! Wow what an awful way to live! But I suspect that we all do this at some time in our lives. I suppose that one day some of us wake and realize that time is passing; that if we don’t ‘seize the day’ we will miss the opportunity . Here is what Teddy Roosevelt said probably close to 100 years ago (he was president of the US in the early part of the 20 century):
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the grey twilight that knows not victory or defeat.”
Is that not magnificent? Thank you to whoever brought it to my attention! That is how to live one’s life. We are dead for a long time people!!
We all want happiness and success ; it doesn’t have to be monetary success but let’s face it money is a useful item in our lives!
So what have I learned from Polaris that gives me happiness and success? That the best to predict your future is to create it!
That is a very liberating thought – well for me anyway!
So with that thought and a burning desire I made changes; my desires are great; I don’t have to worry about the ‘how’ – again so liberating – just the ‘be do have’ and it happens.Get into action, write down your burning desire; study your Beyond Freedom Evolution (the best home study course in personal Development around). Homebased business and your peers
What do you look for in your peers and business associates when you are in a home based business?
A wise man once said ‘don’t employ someone you wouldn’t be proud to take home to dinner’.
But may be that rule should also be one to hold for your friends and business associates.
We all know that to be a winner you should hang out with winners and successful people; be careful who you associate with; stay away from the naysayers.
It is so wonderful, when someone gets an idea and is able to hold it purely enough that an entire movement or corporation will follow in behind it, because the movement of that Energy benefits everyone.

We are all just energy and if you criticize and blame others, you attract negativity into your life. Be grateful for all you have and will have in the future. Feeling anything less than good is simply not worth it
When your work for yourself and from home you can get caught up in the monkey chatter of those ‘negative nabobs’ who surround you. They like to tell you you will fail; they don’t want you to succeed; so hang out with positive people, who strive for success and applaud yours. Enjoy your life; it is short don’t waste it; Go for it and don’t tiptoe thought life trying to make it safely to Death
A Life of Purpose
Rules I seek to live by:
Life is short; and I believe we should therefore live each day with purpose. As Robert Byrne said : ‘the purpose of life is a life of purpose’
So these rules help me live that life of purpose
1. Don’t take yourself too seriously – work should be fun
2. Be remarkable. Make someone’s day. Go out of your way
3. Embrace Change
4. It’s ok to express yourself. Show your flare.
5. Appearances or opinions of others are not important
6. Transparency and Integrity
7. Take Charge and Act Decisively
8. Rewarding Attitude and Performance
9. Professionalism and Discipline
10. Respect each other.
Taking control of your life and being an entrepreneur are all part of living life on purpose and with purpose. Why work for someone else and make other people wealthy when you have the ability to work for yourself.
Btu you say I don’t have the courage; well sometimes when we don’t have the courage to change, everything changes around us to direct us to a new path.
Each of us is unique. this means that we all have a unique purpose in life but knowing your true purpose is something that often eludes us.
What is purpose? Without purpose you can wander through life aimlessly and feeling lost. Purpose gives your life direction and meaning. It’s what you are good at, what’s natural for you and is what you love doing.
Have you ever had an idea that got you very excited ? Have you noticed how easy it is in taking action on that idea? That is because you are focused and inspired. You could keep going day and night to achieve your objective. You are passionate about your cause and feel fulfilled in reaching your objective. When you feel like this you are fulfilling your purpose.
Conversely, if you don’t feel good about what you are doing, things keep going wrong, you lack motivation, and you’re not inspired by what you are doing. If you’re honest with your feelings you’ll know that what you’re doing is just not right for you. As Bob Proctor says, “Your purpose in this lifetime is to do the thing that you love.”
In trying to define your own true purpose, you may come up against well-meaning family and friends and past experiences that may cloud your thinking. Nobody knows you better than you so it’s essential that you really listen to your heart and your head as ONLY you can truly define your purpose, not those around you. Again those rules become important; the opinions of other s are not important; what you believe is and you must have the courage and fortitude to listen to your heart and head and just go for it!
To help you find out your purpose you need to regularly spend some time on your own, about half an hour a day, with no distractions .Take the time to think about you and be really honest. There are no right or wrong answers and there’s no need to share the list with anyone else.
Don’t let past negative experiences or failings or the input from others overrule your thoughts. We have all had failings in the past but that doesn’t mean that we will fail in that area again in the future. What someone else thinks will suit you is exactly that – someone else’s thoughts. You owe it to yourself to really listen to yourself! As Bob Proctor says, “You must recognize the unique gift of you. You’re an individualized, phenomenal expression of life.”
Grab a piece of paper and a pen and write down your answers to those questions. Look over that list and see the common thread that links your thoughts. This most likely will be the thing that inspires you: your purpose.
Home based business and burning desire
Today I read an article in the paper that really made me smile:
An Indian village has built its own railway station and persuaded authorities to stop trains there so that local people can travel to nearby towns for work and college.
Residents of Tajnagar, who had watched trains pass through their village for decades, started a campaign for a station in the village in 1982 but their pleas remained unanswered. Two years ago they took the matter into their own hands
by collecting 45,000 dollars to build their own — complete with two platforms, electricity and a ticket counter.”We have agreed that seven passenger trains will stop at this station a day, and we believe it is financially viable,” Anant Swaroop, a railway ministry official, told AFP.”Most of the 3,000-plus people living in the village are farmers,” Tajnagar resident Ranjeet Singhtold the Times of India. “But such was the burning desire to have a station that everyone contributed according to their capacity.”"We thought that as the railway line passes through the village, we should have a station here,” HukumChand, one of the station’s committee members, said. The do-it-yourself station will allow villagers from Tajnagar to travel the 20 kilometres to Gurgaon, a booming satellite cityoutside the capital New Delhi.”The Railways told us they had no funds. So, finally we decided to craft our own destiny.” (excerpts from AFP article)
These people had such a burning desire for that railway station and were so willing to craft their own destiny that they built their own giving them the opportunity to get to a nearby satellite city far more easily.
So what burning desires do you have for your home based business? Will you do whatever it takes so that you too can craft your own destiny. Aristotle said thousands of years ago that ‘happiness depends on ourselves’. How we deal with our lives is up to us. We make the choices. We decide whether to live in fear or move beyond fear to freedom.
